Self-Care Is ScienceHow to Live Your Best Life
— Kim Fulcher —

Your best life is not a lottery. It is a construction project. And the materials are the choices you make every single day about where your attention, your energy, and your time go.
The women who seem to love their lives are not lucky. They are deliberate. They have made specific decisions about what they will and will not give their life force to.
1. Choose Your People Carefully
The people you spend the most time with have an outsized impact on how you feel about your life. Your nervous system co-regulates with the nervous systems around you.
If you are consistently spending time with people who are negative, draining, or chronically dissatisfied, that seeps in. And if you are surrounded by people who are growing and engaged with their lives, that seeps in too.
Who is getting the most of your time and energy? Does the relationship leave you more or less yourself?
You cannot pour from an empty vessel. This is not a metaphor. It is physiology.
2. Raise Your Standards
Most women are tolerating things they do not have to tolerate. The relationship that has been draining for years. The physical environment that creates low-grade stress. The work situation that is misaligned with what they actually care about.
Raising your standards means getting clear about what is actually acceptable in your life and what is not. It means handling the thing you have been managing around.
Tolerations drain you quietly and constantly. Removing them creates space for something better.
3. Stop Numbing Out
When life is hard, the pull toward numbing is real. Food, wine, screens, shopping, staying busy — there are a thousand ways to not feel what you are feeling.
But numbing out does not solve problems. It just postpones the reckoning and makes it more expensive.
The women who live well are the ones willing to feel what they feel, deal with what needs to be dealt with, and keep moving. Discomfort is temporary. The life you build by moving through it is not.
SELF-CARE is not selfish. It is SCIENCE.
