Reclaim Your Power

Jumpstart Your Confidence

— Kim Fulcher —

Confidence is not a feeling that arrives when you are ready. It is a muscle that develops through use. And you can start building it today.

The wait-until-I-feel-confident approach is one of the most expensive traps women fall into. Because confidence does not come before action. It comes after it.

Here is how to break the cycle.

1. Watch Your Language

The words you use to describe yourself become the walls you live inside. Every time you say I am not the kind of person who, or I have never been good at, you are reinforcing a ceiling.

Start noticing what you say about yourself. Out loud and internally. Would you say these things to someone you love? If not, stop saying them to yourself.

Replace one disempowering self-description this week with something that allows for growth.

You do confidence. Let me show you how.

2. Be Someone You Can Count On

Self-trust is built through follow-through. Every time you make a commitment to yourself and keep it, you make a deposit in your confidence account. Every time you skip it, you make a withdrawal.

Most people do not have a confidence problem. They have a reliability problem. They have been quietly canceling on themselves for so long that they no longer believe their own word.

Pick one commitment this week and keep it.

3. Do Your Homework

Uncertainty breeds hesitation. Knowledge breeds confidence. The more you know about what you are doing or going into, the braver you feel doing it.

Before you go into a challenging situation, do the homework. Understand the context. Know your material.

Then go. Because confidence without action is just preparation. The doing is what confirms it.

You trust yourself by behaving in a trustworthy manner.
